San Francisco Take-Off

All 200 Japan Fulbright teachers gathered in San Francisco before flying out to Tokyo, Japan. I arrived in San Francisco on Saturday, November 19. On Sunday, November 20, Mrs. Ott and I headed for the San Francisco Bay to see the Golden Gate Bridge.

We had to take the underground BART train to the cable car station at Powell Street. The cable car gave us a good tour of historic San Francisco. We got off at Fisherman's Wharf. See the pictures below for some of the sights that we saw.

Re: your travels

You are quite right about Japan being a peaceful place. Their gardens, shrines, and temples offer quiet tranquility. Their schools even incorporate Peace Education in the curriculum. Tonight we met for an hour with teachers from the newest school in Okayama. Check my entry for more details and pictures.
